The trekking through the canyon of Fumaça Waterfall, the second highest in the country with 380 meters of free fall, is one of the classics in Chapada Diamantina. This trail links the city of Lençóis with Vale do Capão, a nice alternative lifestyle small village located is a beautiful valley at the east side of Serra do Sincorá. This trekking has about 35 km, through rocky trails, riverbeds, up and down trough steep ground. We cover approximately 12 km per day and camp two nights in different places. It’s not allowed to use shampoo at the rivers. All the toilet is made in places previously selected by the guide. Everybody carries his or her personal gear as sleeping bag, mattress and tent. 

• First day our goal is the first camping site, Toca do Macaco, at the bottom of the canyon, at a place where the Capivara and Fumaça rivers meet. We start walking up for about one hour then the walk is over flat ground until the cliff from where you can see all the canyon and the Fumaça Waterfall. After a while we start going down a trail which will takes us to the bottom of the canyon, at our camping site.
• Second day we start going up the Fumaça River until Fumaça’s pool. We take more or less two hours to go. After some relax, swimming and contemplation we go back and move to the next camp site, near the Capivara Waterfall. There it’s possible to enjoy an amazing waterfall with a pool and many places for jumping. With good weather we can sleep over the rocks by the river, no tents needed.
• At the third day we start walking to Lençóis. Shortly after we start we make a stop at Palmital Waterfall, for swimming and relaxing. Next to it there’s a spetacular view point, Toca da Onça, time for some snacks and relaxing. After more walking up and down we arrive at Lençóis at a place known as Ribeirão do Meio where there is a natural 30 meters long natural waterslide falling in a huge pool. Fun for sure after a walking day, From there to Lençóis it’s more 40 minutes of easy walking.
